How to Make a Relationship Work?

There are no definite rules in making a relationship work. There are a lot of books that you can purchase to help you with how you will deal with your partner and how to behave during the relationship. Others would seek expert’s advice, go to counseling and attend seminars. Beyond all these, the only element that could make the relationship work is the two of you. When you decide to become a couple, you should learn how to accept each other’s differences. One should be ready that it will not always be a happy. There will be rough times that will go along your way.

An ingredient that one needs is patience, being patient in understanding the shortcomings of the relationship. Keep in mind that nobody is perfect. So your partner is not perfect. You are not perfect. Your relationship will never be perfect. Learn to admit your mistakes and ask for forgiveness. Then vice versa. Always think of what the other will feel before saying or doing anything. Again, here applies the golden rule. Decisions should be agreed on by both parties. There should always be open communication. Discuss your misunderstanding in a polite way. Avoid saying bad things when you’re angry or making decisions when you’re in the height of your emotions. You might regret it after. Let things calm down first after a fight. We can’t really avoid clashing but as much as possible do not make small issues a big deal. Trust each other. Don’t be in control. Let each other grow as an individual and as a couple.
